ATLANTA NATIVE GOES OFF-COURSE WITH 'OLD TOWN ROAD'
Is it country? Is it rap? In 2019, does it even matter? Lil Nas X posed all three of these questions -- and a ton more -- when he released "Old Town Road," a song that carries themes of country with a trap beat. (The song was on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart until it was removed because it doesn't "embrace enough elements of today's country music"). No matter what it is, the song's launched Lil Nas X to stardom seemingly overnight. This week compared to last week, the Atlanta native saw a 650% increase in artist station adds and a 1,400% increase in track station adds.
CHICANO INDIE POP SINGER MAKES IT BIG
We thought this might happen. Back in August of last year, Cuco popped up on the Predictions Chart as word spread about his unique brand of Chicano indie pop. The LA native has been approaching Trendsetter status for a while, but he finally made it with his latest single "Hydrocodone," his first release since signing to Interscope Records. Month on month, Cuco has seen a 22% lift in artist station adds and a 35% increase in track station adds on Pandora.
