We are excited to launch Artist Station Takeover Modes on Pandora! Takeover Modes give artists the unique opportunity to be the DJ and curate the music that plays on their artist station, with the option of adding voice commentary. This is a great new way to engage your listeners that tune in to your artist station!
Since Pandora was initially founded upon station listening, we’ve found that many listeners still prefer the lean-back experience of stations. Takeover Modes offer a way for artists to play the music that matters to them and tell stories right on their own station.
For many years, Pandora has offered different listening Modes on stations, including Crowd Faves, Discovery, Deep Cuts, Newly Released, etc., but artists have not been able to curate their own custom artist station Mode before. With this new AMP feature, artists can publish one Takeover Mode on their station at a time for a three-month period.
When you log in to AMP and create a new program, you’ll now have three program types to choose from, including Modes, Stations, and Playlists. Stations and Playlists remain unchanged but Modes will be the new option you can use to create a mix directly for your artist station listeners.
Like Stations, Artist Station Takeover Modes require at least 80 tracks to be DMCA compliant. When creating a program, you have access to the Pandora catalog where you can choose the music you would like to include and upload your own voice tracks to attach to music tracks.
Once you publish your Takeover Mode, you can keep track of its performance within AMP, by viewing the number of active listeners, hours spent listening, average session length, skip rate, and the total number of radio spins accumulated. As always, AMP provides a robust set of analytics so you can view metrics for your Takeover Mode to see how your audience is engaging.
